What is the consumer reviews for the 2002 Ford Taurus according to edmuds?

I bought this car 5 years ago, one other person had used it, it had about 15,000 miles on it but it was in very good condition. My parents told me it was a dependable car, and since I was 22 at the time I knew so little about cars and trusted their judgment, and knew I it would take me a while to get through college, so dependable seemed ideal. Even if I was already a little wary of Fords, and the color is awful. A year and a half after I bought it we paid $800 to fix a problem with the transmission. Now it appears the transmission may need fixed again, maybe even replaced. It has difficulty shifting gears, which can be nerve wracking when you are trying to get onto a freeway.

Favorite Features
I like the sun visors, I can usually adjust them well enough to block the sun but still see the road. I like the power locks, power windows, keyless entry. The chairs are comfortable.

Suggested Improvements
please find a dependable transmission for a "dependable" car. I read through these reviews and I know mine is not the only one.

What is the consumer reviews for the 1999 Ford Taurus according to edmunds?

Car was perfect til about 110k. Had a few minor issues but nothing out of the ordinary. Then, since 10/07, have only put about 18k on it. 2 racks, 4 power steering pumps, still growls even though new pump. Have had pumps die after just 3 weeks. As far as rest if time, gas mileage on ordinary driving, 20 mpg. This car replaced a 91 caprice which got the same, but had a V8. Have gotten as high as 29 on highway. Adequate power, has gone down since bought car. Tranny--no actual problems except speed sensor a while back. Ride--a little stiff for long trips being the SE, but corners well. Love: fold down rear seats.

Favorite Features
Fold down rear seats, corners well (SE version). Has 127k on it, burns no oil yet. Alum exhaust/radiator still original

Suggested Improvements
Well, they changed it in 2000. The flip up front console which blocks the cig lighter, fortunately there are 2 of them. headlights hard to change & not much light from them. All seem to start to rust on drivers side front of rear wheel well.

2006 Ford Explorer Owners Manual

2006 Ford Explorer Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman, welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2006 Ford Explorer.  Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for the 2006 Ford Explorer.

Ford treats the Explorer to a number of significant improvements for 2006. Styling has been updated with a bolder grille treatment, a new tailgate and more attractive taillights. Interior furnishings get an upgrade, too, and additional sound insulation results in a supremely quiet cabin, while a stiffened frame and new shocks provide even better ride and handling characteristics than before.

The four-door, midsize 2006 Ford Explorer is available in XLS, XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited trims. The XLS comes with air conditioning, cruise control, an MP3-compatible CD player, keyless entry, and power windows, mirrors and locks. XLT models get a six-way power driver seat, 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and rear ventilation ducts. Eddie Bauer models offer two-tone paint, 17-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, running boards, leather upholstery, heated seats, a 10-way power adjustable driver seat with memory, faux wood trim and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The base engine is a 4.0-liter V6 good for 210 horsepower. Optional on all models except the XLS is a 4.6-liter V8 engine with 292 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard, and both two- and four-wheel drive are available with either engine. Properly equipped, a V8 2WD Explorer can tow 7,300 pounds.

Any 2006 Ford Explorer model is a joy to drive, as SUVs go. Taking much of the credit for this praise is the rear independent suspension, which provides a smooth ride and keeps the wheels planted on rough pavement. Steering is surprisingly responsive and the brakes inspire confidence through a firm and progressive pedal. Power from either the V6 or V8 engine is acceptable, though we prefer the added refinement of the V8.

What is the consumer reviews for the 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac according to edmunds?

Bought this truck a year ago and had nothing but problems. First the battery needed to be replaced a week after I bought it. I had to replaced a hose that was causing my engine light to come on 2 months after I bought it, it was figured out after two appts at the shop. My back driver side door does not open from the inside, I have to let everyone out by opening their door. My ABS kicks in when it should not kick in causing me to spend numorous visits to the mechanic. Turns out, I have to spend the big bucks and take it to the Ford dealer. Lastly, which is not diagnosed yet but I've been told my alternater needs work. It just never ends with this truck.

Favorite Features
Sun roof after I learned how to close it without wind coming through. Back sliding window.

Suggested Improvements
Get rid of the noise issue underneath the vechicle. Sometimes it sounds like my truck is 120 years old. My only other suggestion is to buy a different vehicle.

What is the consumer reviews for the 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac according to edmunds?

My wife bought her truck about 4 years ago. A little less than 4 months later, the front passenger wheel literally broke off at a speed of approximately 60 mph. The reason for the problem was due to the wheel bearing freezing up. The dealer where she bought the truck was surprised that the vehicle did not roll and do some serious damage to life and property. This winter, just short of 4 years later, the bearing froze up again and was on the brink of breaking once again. The only conclusion is that there has to be some kind of design or material flaw in the materials used for this model. The truck has been inspected in attempt to find the problem. Owners beware!!

Favorite Features
The main feature we enjoyed was the back window. I can be rolled down just like a side window. The handling, with the exception of the long turning radius, was good and was not tiring on long trips. This truck is very roomy and can handle a heavy load without straining. It also has an engine kill switch should the truck ever roll over on its side.

Suggested Improvements
Tighten the turning radius, the middle console is flimsy and needs to be strengthened. The front wheels need to be extensively studied to find the cause for wheel bearing freeze up which causes the wheels to lock up. Need to improve electric window controls. Don't always work, especially during cold weather.

2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Owners Manual

2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman, welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac .  Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for the 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac.

Returning after a one-year hiatus, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac has been fully redesigned for the 2007 model year. Major improvements for this SUV-pickup combination include a newly available V8 that provides 40 percent more power than the previous V6, greater cargo and towing capacity, enhanced ride and handling characteristics and a roomier, more comfortable cabin.

The 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac is a four-door Explorer SUV modified to include a small pickuplike cargo bed. Two trim levels are available. The well-equipped XLT comes with a composite cargo box, 16-inch alloy wheels, power windows and mirrors, keyless entry, cruise control, air conditioning and CD player. Move up to the Limited and color-keyed bumpers and side mirrors, foglamps, side-step bars, 18-inch wheels, a power driver seat, and leather wrapping for the steering wheel and gearshift knob are thrown into the mix. Major options include a heated windshield, a moonroof, leather seating, adjustable pedals, a navigation system, an upgraded sound system with CD changer and subwoofer and satellite radio. For the cargo box, Ford offers an optional cagelike bed extender and a hard tonneau cover.

The Sport Trac's standard powertrain consists of a 4.0-liter V6 good for 210 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission. A 4.6-liter V8 rated for 292 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque is also available; it comes with a six-speed automatic. Either is available with rear- or four-wheel drive. The Control Trac four-wheel-drive system has three modes. Intended for everyday driving, 4x4 Auto mode routes power only to the rear wheels until they slip, at which point power is delivered automatically to the front wheels. The 4x4 High mode provides a 50/50 power split to the front and rear wheels, making it ideal for off-road or severe winter conditions. The 4x4 Low mode locks the transfer case and is for the really deep stuff, steep grades and pulling a boat out of the water. Class III and IV towing packages are optional. Properly outfitted, the 2007 Explorer Sport Trac can pull up to 6,800 pounds.

With a front and rear independent suspension, nicely tuned dampers and springs, admirable road isolation and a surprisingly responsive steering system, the 2007 Sport Trac is light-years ahead of its predecessor. Handling is surefooted and the ride is almost luxury-car plush. With more than a fourfold increase in torsional rigidity and more liberal use of noise dampening materials, the Sport Trac boasts a noticeably quieter cabin. Ford claims that at 40 mph, the Sport Trac is a full 5 decibels quieter than a Honda Ridgeline.

What is the consumer reviews for the 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac according to edmunds?

It is Nov 2012 as I type this. Altho this pkp has less than 12,000 mi it has had to have ALL 4 brakes & 2 rotors replaced due to early failure. Not much room for a 6'1'' guy like me. Pkp is underpowered and avgs 17 mpg city/hwy cmbind. Short bed is nxt to worthless. You cannot unlock doors with keypad on door, only with keyfob! Late father's trk. Drove many pkps over the years. This is the worst. Had so much trouble with my 99 Sable and this 2005 Pkp, I am now a proud 2010 Honda Van owner. No wonder FORD dropped this model. Choppy ride, & controls are in weird places. I'd have been ashamed to sell this trk to my customers. Give me an old F150 4x4, 8ft. bed!

Favorite Features
A/C works great. Easy to shift into 4 wheel drive. Electric rear window nice. Running boards are good. Good heating system. Locking tailgate handy. Goes well in snow!

Suggested Improvements
Should have offered in a 7ft or 8ft bed. Not enough interior room for tall folks. Hate the way pwr door lock system works! Engine underpowered. Needs a turbo! Brake reliability is horrible! Speed control awkward to operate.Radio/CD player awkward to operate.Knitted vinyl seats would be nice!Control switch operation not consistent with other FORD products. Needs longer warranty. This, like Ford's Aerostar, EXP, 4cyl Tauruses, Diesel Tempos & such,Mustang IIs, Courier Pkps,80-82 T-Birds should never have been approved & built! A totally redesigned, roomy, long bed, small truck, with a good price, great reliability, and excellent mileage would win back all those small pickup owners Ford lost.

2010 Ford Explorer Owners Manual

2010 Ford Explorer Owners Manual - Halo ladies and gentleman, welcome to Owners Manual blog. You are now reading the info about 2010 Ford Explorer.  Here, we provide to you the link to download or buying this car's manual book. But in this case, we strongly recommend you to read the review first.

According to edmunds for the 2010 Ford Explorer.

The 2010 Ford Explorer is a four-door midsize SUV available in XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited trim levels. Seating capacity jumps from five to seven passengers when it's equipped with the available third-row seat.

Entry-level XLT models seat five and come with 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, air-conditioning, power windows and door locks, and a CD/MP3 stereo with an auxiliary audio jack. The XLT with the Sport Package adds black exterior accents (including the wheel arches, side-step bars and front fascia) along with 20-inch alloy wheels and white-faced instruments. Compared to the regular XLT, Eddie Bauer models add two-tone paint, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, a power driver seat, heated front seats, a manual third-row seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, the Sync electronics interface and satellite radio.

The Ford Explorer's base engine is a 4.0-liter V6 that puts out 210 hp and 254 pound-feet of torque. For 2010, the optional 4.6-liter V8 engine with 292 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque is only offered on Eddie Bauer and Limited models. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard with the V6 engine, while the V8 comes mated to a six-speed automatic. Both engines come with standard rear-wheel drive or an optional 4WD system that includes a push-button low-range transfer case designed for negotiating slippery or uneven surfaces on or off road. Also optional is a full-time all-wheel-drive system, but it requires the optional 20-inch wheels. Properly equipped, a V8 2WD Explorer can tow nearly 7,300 pounds.

Performance with either engine is adequate, though the Explorer lags behind most rivals. We timed a V8-equipped 4WD Explorer at 9 seconds for the 0-60 dash. By comparison, the Ford Flex does the same run in 8.7 seconds, while a V8-equipped Nissan Pathfinder does it in 7 flat. EPA fuel mileage estimates don't vary much between trim levels: The V6 with 2WD rates 14 mpg city/20 mpg highway and 16 mpg combined, while either engine with 4WD rates 1 mpg less across the board.

Relative to other truck-based SUVs like the Dodge Durango, the 2010 Ford Explorer is pleasing to drive. Much of the credit goes to the independent rear suspension, which both smoothes the ride and helps keep the wheels planted when traversing rough pavement. For a vehicle this size, the steering feels surprisingly responsive. Power from both the V6 and V8 engines can best be described as adequate, though most buyers will likely prefer the V8 for its greater refinement and added low-end torque.
